Curator of Language & Dissemination

4 days per week

Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons will further strengthen its capacity for communication and dissemination in the coming years, in a sincere effort to reach out to new audiences and our existing communities alike. Casco actively seeks out modes of communication and translation for its works and knowledge, in order to connect and share with diverse publics — professional and non-professional, local and international, etc. Casco also innovates in publishing, both digital and in print. The Curator of Language & Dissemination develops and implements Casco’s communication strategies, tactics and plans.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing the communication and dissemination plan (emailing, website, advertisement, and other new forms and media);
  • Developing and implementing new strategies for diversifying and broadening the publics (including the commoners);
  • Managing and maintaining the daily communication infrastructure, including Casco’s email account, recurring newsletter updates, and social media presence;
  • Planning and executing the dissemination of the ideas, the process and the outcomes of projects and institutional practice at Casco.

For this position, Casco expects you to have a strong affinity with the field of art and contemporary art as well as an investment in the development of the commons as discourse and practice. You have an excellent knowledge of both Dutch and English. You enjoy the process of articulation and translation of sometimes-complex ideas in comprehensible and accessible forms. You are creative in inventing new expressions and channels of communications, and passionate to connect with broad audiences.

The forms and conditions of contract for the above positions will be discussed individually and Casco works with the CAO (collective labour agreement) suggested by the City Council of Utrecht. In general, the first contract for each role will be a maximum of one year, to be possibly followed by a long-term mutual engagement.
