Casco Art Institute library comprises a collection of approximately 2,000 books covering a diverse array of topics. This includes the history, theory, criticism, and practice of visual arts, as well as literature on exhibitions, biennales, artist catalogues, and cultural history.
Additionally, our collection encompasses works on various subjects such as (feminist) political theory, economics, ecology, social and spatial design, pedagogy, queer theory, feminist theory, intersectional theory, and collections related to social struggles and anticolonial postcolonial, and decolonial theory.
Furthermore, the library houses a unique assortment of artists’ books, publications, zines, (art) journals, and magazines, along with a curated collection of Whole Earth Catalogues.
Adjacent to our library is our bookshop, which features publications from Casco and our ecosystem, including a collection from lumbung members and artists connected to lumbung kios and Arts Collaboratory network.
Our library continues to expand alongside research interests, through generous donations, and in response to exhibitions and the evolving needs of our ecosystem.
