Collective Reading Sessions on 5, 12, and 20 April 2024, 16:00–18:00
+ Publication Launch on 1 May 2024, 18:00–21:00 / Casco HQ, Lange Nieuwstraat 7, Utrecht

‎‎ ‎

We are delighted to announce Kathrin Böhm’s publication launch program upcoming at Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons in April and May! Kathrin’s visit provides a public platform to explore, study, and celebrate her recent publication Art on the Scale of Life. Edited by Gerrie van Noord, Paul O’Neill, and Mick Wilson, this collaborative project emerged in 2022 through partnerships with the University of Gothenburg, PUBLICS in Helsinki, and The Showroom in London, and is co-published with Sternberg Press.

Throughout April, we are organizing a series of collective readings of the book at Casco Art Institute ahead of the launch. These sessions are part of Casco’s newly born library program, which includes the recently initiated Read-in residency. You are very welcome to join at 5, 12, and 20 April 2024, 16:00–18:00. Please RSVP via info@casco.art

Additionally, we will host a festive publication launch event on Mayday. For this special occasion, both Myvillages artists Kathrin Böhm and Wapke Feenstra will come together. During this joint presentation, they will discuss their collaborative artistic practices that span many years alongside the becoming and story of Myvillages, an initiative close to Casco at the forefront of connecting the urban and rural with an artistic lens.

Since the mid-1990s, Kathrin has significantly expanded the scope of socially engaged artistic practices, embracing complex spatial, visual, and economic dimensions. This expansion often involves collaborative creation and ongoing evolution of organizational infrastructures, as seen in collective ventures like Myvillages (established in 2003) and Public Works (active from 1999 to 2012). Additionally, she fosters practice-based initiatives such as The Centre for Plausible Economies (established in 2018), Company Drinks (since 2014), and the Rural School of Economics (in collaboration with Wapke Feenstra since 2019).
