SWAB Barcelona Art Fair

From 8–11 October, SWAB Barcelona Art Fair brought together artists, galleries, and cultural practitioners to foster exchange and dialogue around contemporary art. Founded in 2006, the fair focuses on building artistic communities, connecting local and international scenes, and exploring the tensions between the art market and creative freedom. Its public programme aimed at supporting emerging artists and galleries included several members of Casco’s ecosystem.

On 9 October, Aline Hernández of Casco Art Institute participated in Infrastructures of Solidarity II: Organizing Resistance, a panel moderated by Maria Berríos that also included Station of Commons, lumbung radio, and other participants. The discussion explored how cultural practitioners and collectives are building structures of solidarity and resistance amid a rising fascist context, and what it takes to sustain meaningful solidarity beyond symbolic gestures.

On 11 October, Lumbung Lotería, organised by damdam collective, invited participants to explore collective memory, artistic harvesting, and solidarity through a reimagined game of Lotería. Featuring artworks donated by artists in their network, the event also raised funds for trusted local initiatives in Indonesia.
