Tú Dung x Read-in: Transdisciplinary Library Residency Finissage

25–27 October 2024 / Casco HQ
Activities include library activations, UNKNOWN CLASSES (performance pedagogy), and a residency presentation-gathering with Read-in Collective and the Casco team

As the residency and Tú Dung’s days of inhabiting the Casco Art Institute library, alongside Read-in Collective, come to an end, we are thrilled to announce our intensive, “unknownness”-filled library weekend program at our space. Everyone is welcomed to join either one or two sessions, or the whole weekend program (the latter option is highly encouraged). Find the program outline below.

Library Activations and Hangout
25 October, 15:00–18:00

We kick off on 25 October with a library activation day hosted by Aline Hernández and Tú Dung: a casual afternoon where you can join us in the library. While you’re here, feel free to browse the organized shelves, explore the book collections, work from Casco’s Office Gallery (maybe even catching up on those deadlines that passed two days ago), or simply hang out with us and catch glimpses of our preparations for the finissage events—ones you won’t want to miss! This day is also envisioned as a maintenance day for the library, where we’ll dust the bookshelves and return books to their places while also rediscovering forgotten gems that may have escaped our notice. You’re welcome to take part in this process, of course.

UNKNOWN CLASSES
26 October, 14:00–17:00 and 27 October, 13:00–15:00

Moving into the weekend, on 26 and 27 October, Tú Dung will bring her ongoing research-based pedagogical practice, UNKNOWN CLASSES, back to the public after its first season at BAK in July 2024. UNKNOWN CLASSES is a performative series focusing on unpacking the (im)possibilities in art, pedagogy, and beyond. The project begins with a simple question: “What if we don’t know what we are getting into?”—and how this uncertainty might affect the way we learn and experience things. You can find more information about the project below. What will unfold in these sessions remains to be seen, but embracing uncertainty has proven to be a space full of possibilities. We hope to spark your interest and encourage you to join us!

Residency Finissage
27 October, 15:00–17:00

After the second session of UNKNOWN CLASSES, the afternoon of 27 October marks the residency finissage with a presentation and gathering led by Tú Dung. She guides us through her experiences during the residency, shares glimpses of her practice, and engages in conversations with Read-in Collective and Casco about library practices and future plans. Dung invites everyone to join the discussion over a glass of drink.
