Warm farewell to WTM

7 March, 10:00–13 March 2016, 18:00

The final week of the We Are the Time Machines: Time and Tools for Commoning (WTM) exhibition and study program is full of common (when public, noted below) moments for study and other activities in concert with the last energized sixteen weeks. Please have a glimpse – “we are still the time machines!”

Office: Bustling Monday. The week begins with the weekly team meeting and cleaning session (with soundtrack!).

Room 1: Our neighbor Museum Catherijneconvent organizes a masterclass in storytelling.

Room 2: First-year students in the Gerrit Rietveld Academie’s Graphic Design Department return to WTM to assemble zines, joined via Skype by artist Jazael Olguín Zapata of Cooperativa Cráter Invertido, Mexico City.

Room 4: As night falls the WTM Study Group gather to speculate on the (idea of) the oblique plane while enwrapped in Graeme Thomson and Silvia Maglioni’s audio work UIQ (the unmaking-of).

WTM Online: WTM BLOG IS OUT!!! Please check www.wearethetimemachines.org. We are celebrating International Women’s Day, too!

Room 1: Concurrently, Museum Catherijneconvent’s masterclass moves into its second day.

Room 2: Utrecht-based artist Mitchel Breed, also a member of art and studio space Das Spectrum, Utrecht continues his ten-day WTM residency.

Office, Room 2 and 3: Artist Aimée Zito Lima, curator Lauren Parker, and the Casco team invite the Museum Quarter’s workers and residents to “adopt Rietveld crate chairs,” collectively assembled in 2013. Public.

WTM Online: Is it finally time for reading? We think yes! Recommended prior to Saturday’s forum is Casco and Open!’s joint essay series Commonist Aesthetics and its offshoots, Common Conflict and Common Knowledge, on the disputed understandings and practices of the commons in the field of art, design, education, and social movement.

Room 2: An Open Seminar with Piet Zwart Insitute’s Education in Arts class focusing on Site for Unlearning: Art Organization, a long-term collaboration between artist Annette Krauss and the Casco team.

Office and WTM Online: The final installment in the Commoning Forum Series poses the question: Commoning Aesthetics: Which Art, What For?. Public. For more information please click here. All live-streamed.

Basement/In de Ruimte: The forum is followed by a festive dinner for WTM commoners.

All WTM spaces: One-hundred members of Gastheerschap en cultuur, a large group of enthusiasts who live or work in Utrecht’s Museum Quarter, visit WTM with a guided tour by the Casco team. Closed from 18 hrs.

The project closes but let the commoning and studying go on with more wisdom and power, as both within and outside WTM many of us have un/learned a great deal, and wish to continue it.
