Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons in Utrecht is seeking two new members to join our Supervisory Board, as the terms of two current members are set to expire soon. We are particularly interested in candidates from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about alternative frameworks for arts organizations and the cultivation of the commons through art. This is an unpaid position. Casco Art Institute is committed to and actively supports the Code of Diversity and Inclusion.
Profile
The ideal candidates will have experience in the cultural sector and a strong connection to Utrecht and the Netherlands, either by living in the city or through their professional practice. They should be interested in critical and experimental models of institutional care, community organizing, and collective economies, with a deep understanding of the cultural policy and funding landscape in the Netherlands. Given Casco’s involvement in transnational art commoning through the Arts Collaboratory and lumbung ecosystems, we are also particularly eager to hear from candidates with an interest in these practices.
In addition to experienced backgrounds, we also strongly encourage applications from younger candidates who are interested in the institutional practice that Casco upholds. Candidates will commit to serving on the board for a three-year term, starting in 2025.
Application and Selection
Our application process revolves around conversation. If you find this call intriguing, kindly reach out to us with a brief note before 20 December 2024, sharing information about yourself, your work, and your interest in Casco. You can expect to hear from us by 10 January 2025, at which point we will contact you to schedule meetings with the team and the Supervisory board members. Please email Marianna Takou at marianna@casco.art if you wish to express your interest.
Casco Art Institute is made up of a small, diverse team with a range of ages and cultural backgrounds. This diversity extends to our dynamic ecosystem of relationships. When you collaborate with us, you become part of a warm and generous community that values and respects everyone’s unique experiences, identities, and contexts they belong to. We embrace diversity in age, race, economic status, gender expression, size, abilities, learning styles, nationality, religion, citizenship status, and sexual orientation.
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by the existing members of the Supervisory Board and Casco’s Daily Maintenance Team and invited for an exchange. The positions commence in February 2025.
