Climate strike & Space to contemplate

27 September 2019

Today is the second global climate strike, worldwide people are taking to the streets and some of us in the team will be in the Hague to join them (check out Klimaatstaking for more information on the march)!

However, we are aware that strikes, big crowds and travelling to the Hague is not something everyone can do. This is why we want to offer a safe, quiet space at Casco Art Institute. Taking the notion that silence is a commons, we invite everyone who can’t join the climate strike to contemplate with the exhibition Het is of de stenen spreken (silence is a commons).

In particular we want to highlight The Waters That Move Within Me (2019), a piece of speculative fiction by Ama Josephine Budge developed for the exhibition, which reflects on the history of our building and the ongoing climate colonialism between the Netherlands and Ghana.

We also welcome you to Our House is on Fire, the second Assembly for Commoning Art Institutions which focuses on drafting a climate justice code for art and art institutions taking place on 25 & 26 October.

This activity is part of:

Four solo shows of the distinguished artistic practices and languages by Babi Badalov, Ansuya Blom, Ama Josephine Budge, and Mire Lee.
